Bats have taken over the dormitory of a major university

As bats are a protected species, they must not be destroyed. The animals found were re-captured. Special valves were then installed in the building in places where the bats could access, through which they could leave the attic, but could not get inside.

Representatives from the Department of Conservation explained that during the cold seasons, especially when temperatures drop below freezing, bats seek warm places and often climb buildings.

Previously, scientists had predicted an invasion of blood-sucking bats spreading rabies to the southern states of the USA. Research shows that bats of the species Desmodus rotundus, also known as common vampires, could spread to the south of the country in the coming decades.
