Mysterious pregnant creature with golden eyes turns out to be new species

The new species has been named Litoria sibilus. The second word translates from Latin as ‘whistling’ or ‘hissing’ and describes the sound made by the kwakshi. Litoria sibilus lives exclusively on Kangaroo Island.

Kangaroo Island is the third largest island in Australia. It is considered a distinct region. The fauna of the island is very rich and diverse, as more than half of the island has never been cultivated by humans.

It was previously reported that in the US, two students went to a forest pond to listen to the croaking of frogs as part of a biology assignment and accidentally found blue crayfish, unknown to science. An interesting feature of these arthropods turned out to be that they do not live in the water, but bury themselves in the ground near the shore.
