The doctor stressed that not all of the medical community agrees that it is loneliness that causes life-threatening conditions. However, Gallaway believes that the numerous cases confirming the impact of loneliness cannot be ignored. ‘In my work in the emergency department, I see this effect every day and regularly treat patients who have suffered a stroke or heart attack soon after retiring,’ – Gallaway concluded.
